  • Celebrating Labor Day

Labor Day means many things to different people. Officially it’s a holiday that celebrates our labor force and all that they have accomplished. Unofficially it’s the end of summer, so many spend their free day outside at parades, picnics, pool parties and BBQs. Labor Day is also a notoriously big shopping day. Maybe everyone is out buying shoes, since apparently you aren’t allowed to wear white shoes after Labor Day? So what are your big plans for the weekend? Are you going to a local parade, overbooked with parties, or relaxing at home? Or are you perhaps one of those unlucky people stuck working on labor day?

No matter which way you are celebrating the holiday, we should all stop to remember all of the great things America has accomplished with the dedication and hard work of our labor force, both past and present. Just about everyone will work at some point in their lives, so what we are really celebrating is us, ourselves, our families, our friends, our neighbors. That’s why we fly our flag on Labor Day, and have red, white, and blue themed parades and parties.

You can show your American pride all through the year with some of our American themed accessories. EGR’s Patriot Bug Shields are my favorite. They are made from a durable polymer so they will last for years. They are easy to install, with no drilling required and are custom designed for a perfect fit. The design is top notch, with the waving stripes looking like they are almost moving. Plus EGR is committed to building as much as possible in the USA, so you will be celebrating American labor every time you drive your truck.

  • Must Have Off-Road Accessories

Even amateur off-road enthusiasts know the value of a good winch for getting out of a sticky situation. Learn about winches and other off road accessories.

Many beginner off-roaders think that simply by purchasing a 4 x 4 they are ready to hit the trails and take on some rough terrain. What they don’t know is that without adding the proper accessories, they may unknowingly cause serious damage to their vehicle. Off-road accessories have been designed to protect your vehicle while you are out on the trails. Installing the proper equipment can make your off-roading experience all the more fun while also keeping you safe. While you are going to add some accessories why not go with a name you can trust and use Westin truck accessories.

If you’re a serious Jeep adventurist, you will know how important having a winch can be. A truck winch can help you get of some sticky situations such as being stuck in the mud, or encountering some water that was deeper than it first appeared. I love my T-Maxx off Road winch by Westin. The T-Max off Road Winches are prepared with an 8,500 or 11,000 lb. single rate pull, and are equipped with either steel or synthetic rope. All having 5.5HP motors, a hand-held controller, 3 stages planetary gear trains, and automatic in-the-drum brakes. After having to use it one time, you will be glad that you spent the extra money and time installing a winch on your vehicle.

If you’re using your truck to pull up tree stumps, haul heavy loads, or pull other vehicles out of the mud or water, a truck winch grille guard is a given. Westin Sportsman winch mount grille guards offer a lot more than your conventional grille guards. They are manufactured from 1.50 inch steel tubing to give you all of the rugged protection that you desire. A Winch Mount Grille Guard enhances your vehicle's rugged looks and provides a handy location to mount your winch. The winch grille guard is specifically designed for durability and difficult jobs that go hand in hand with off-road work or hunting and fishing.

There isn't a greater thrill than taking an adventure in your jeep or truck at night. The thrill and the excitement of off-roading when the sun goes down is something all truck owners should experience. However, you still need to be able to see where you're driving. Slamming into a tree because it came out of nowhere is no one's idea of a good time. Get yourself a Westin Light Bar for your truck and you won't have to worry about anything running into you. The best thing about the Westin Light Bar is there is no drilling required in order mounting them. The lights bars sit above the bumper for better positioning.  It doesn't get much simpler than that. Grab yourself the Westin light bar and head out into the night.

These are only a few of the many accessories that are available to customize your off-roading vehicle. If you are not sure of what parts you will need, explain to an expert what type of road conditions you plan on driving in and you will be directed to the proper equipment.

  • Pimp My Ride

You do not have to spend thousands of dollars in expensive rims or a custom paint job to pimp your ride and make it look hot. One inexpensive and effective way to do it is by using car accessories. Tons of great truck accessories are available in today's market at affordable prices to make your truck a statement on the streets, a mesmerizing beast, or a wild ride.

Why spend hundreds of dollars on a pair of alloy rims that you are just going to have to take off during the winter months to protect them from the winters salt and grime. Buy a nice set of stainless steel wheel skins. Stainless steel wheel skins install in minutes with no cutting or drilling they just snap on to the stock wheels.

One of the most popular ways to pimp your trucks exterior is by adding on a chrome exhaust tip. All you have to do is bolt it on. So not only are they relatively easy to install, but exhaust tips are also very cheap.

Another nice add on for your trucks exterior is a drop step nerf bar. The drop step nerf bar allows you a good solid stepping area to assist in climbing in to your truck. Think about it, how mom is going to get into your truck. They come in different finishes to go with the look you are aiming for. A nice chrome one really stands out.

Little by little, you can accessorize your vehicle until you get the look you are going for and without having to spend a lot of money all at once. Many times these accessories are universal or specially made to fit your car model and brand. With a little bit of fun and effort you can make your car look great.

  • Weekend Specials: Accessories for Work Vans

This weekend (starting today 8/17 and running through Sunday 8/19) get special discounts on select accessories at BuyAutoTruckAccessories.com. This weekend we have special deals on accessories for your work van: drawers, mats, and customized racks.

Jobox Storall 9-inch drawers are one of the best deals out there for work vans. They install on the floor of your cargo van, and can be accessed from outside the van itself, so you don’t have to climb in and out multiple times looking for your supplies. These drawers are designed to be super tough with steel outer cabinetry, drawers, and backs. Each drawer has a 650 lb. load rating so it can be loaded up with all your heavy tools and equipment. Rear roller bearings are rated at 1,000 lbs., so opening and closing your drawers is never a hassle. The drawers use a grip and release safety system, which allows for opening and closing on sloped surfaces, and the handles are recessed to protect from damage. Weather stripping around each opening keeps out water and dust, and anti-skid stripes on top allow for stacking.

BedRug Carpeted Van Mats are made of a non-woven carpet material that is extremely durable for the work truck environment, but soft to the touch. This carpet not only protects your van’s floor, but it also adds traction, so cargo will not slide around. Beneath the carpeting is a 3/4-inch foam pad, which offers extra cushioning and is waterproof to prevent seepage. The carpet is die cut for a clean finish and is custom sized so it will fit your make and model. Installation and clean up are both easy: slide in to install, vacuum or hose off to clean.

Kargo Master’s Van Tank Rack holds refrigerant tanks securely during transport. These heavy-duty racks are made of 14-gauge steel with a gray powdercoating. They have individual cradles for each tank that are perfectly designed to prevent slipping or sliding, and nylon retention straps are provided for extra security.  They are available in two sizes, with the larger model accommodating four 30 lb. tanks, and the smaller model holding up to three 30 lb. tanks, with the option of substituting a 50 lb. tank in the top cradle.

  • How To Pack You And Your Car For College

Packing a car for college can be considered an art. Essentially, you need to fit everything you can't live without for the next 6 months into whatever car you happen to drive. The key to how to pack a car for college is to utilize every available space and to pack wisely. Now times that by two, my brother and I are going to the same school. First things first clean out your car completely. You don't want to have anything in the car that isn't something you are moving to college with. My parents got us a rooftop cargo carrier to help out with packing my car. I was afraid of the stuff getting wet so I got an expandable roof bag as well, which fits perfectly in the cargo carrier. Before you load everything into the back of your car you might want to lay down a cargo liner to protect the original carpet. After you have bought everything you need and didn't already own, invest in some plastic storage containers (of assorted sizes) to actually pack your stuff in. These can be reused once you are moved in and on your own. Stackable plastic crates make great bookcases and five gallon buckets (once decorated) make cute trash cans. Storage tubs can be used as laundry baskets and several other things. The best part is, if you pack in reusable containers, packing materials are near to hand when it comes time to move out of the dorm. Ever played the game Tetris? Same concept. The key to getting the most stuff in the smallest amount of space is to use all the nooks and crannies possible. It seems like common sense to do so, but it is harder than it sounds. Try to arrange each item so that it fits tightly against everything else. A lot of electronics are heat-sensitive, and most do not react well to being crushed. If all of these are packed in the same container with their cords, attachments, and manuals, finding what you need when you unpack is much easier. Put this container away from items that might fall or spill on them. Now that, that is done Take a breath and calm down! You’re finally going to college. This is going to be the most exciting time of your life, so stop stressing out and just enjoy the fact that you’re starting a new part of your life.

  • Weekend Specials: Cargo Edition

This weekend (starting today 8/10 and running through Sunday 8/12) get special discounts on select accessories at BuyAutoTruckAccessories.com. This weekend we have special deals on accessories meant for carrying cargo: ladders, tools, or anything else that fits in your truck bed.

First up are ladder racks, which come on many styles, but usually only two materials, steel or aluminum. Steel Truck Racks are very popular because steel is such a strong metal, and will stand up to the constant loading and unloading of heavy ladders. This particular Kargo Master rack is constructed of high tensile strength 1 5/8-inch diameter steel alloy tubing for durability. It uses 14-inch mounting plates to distribute its load over a wider area and required no drilling to install. Other features include a removable rear cross bar and rear grab handles that improve safety when load and unloading. An additional cross bar can be purchased to provide additional support if needed.

It's obviously not safe or practical to toss all your tools into your truck bed as is. They'd scratch the bed, get tangled together, and hitting big bumps in the road would require many replacement hammers and wrenches. So if you want to take your tools with you wherever you go, then a toolbox is a necessity. Delta Champion Crossover Tool Boxes are a great option. Their aluminum construction will not rust or tarnish and their stainless steel paddle handles are easy to open. Posi-lift gas springs make the lid open easily and weather stripping helps secure the lid tightly. To top it all off the lid has an RSL design with an outer protective shell, an insulating middle layer, and a reverse beveled edge.

Finally, if you need to carry anything else in your truck bed, we have the tie-downs and ratchet straps to make sure your loads are safe and secure. Carr's Locking Tie Down Straps are designed with durability and security in mind. They feature 6-inch locking carabiners and also have a stainless steel cable sewn into the nylon tie-down to resist breaking or cutting. The combination lock is easy to set with no keys required, and features soft tie extensions that keep the lock from scratching your paint job. Tie downs are sold in 24 ft., 8.5 ft., and 28-inch lengths, and a single carabiner is available as well.

  • Olympic-inspired truck accessories

Have you been watching the Olympics like everyone else, and now want to be the next American to win gold?  Maybe you love water sports, so why not try Kayaking.  My husband and I love Kayaking. It could be very relaxing or it can be a workout depending on where you go to Kayak.  We get our Kayaks and strap them up on our jeep.  They make a Kayak rack that allows you to lay them on their sides which does not take up the whole roof and it also folds down flat when we are not using it.  We like to go for a nice trip down the river with allows us to go slow at some points and then we get to pick up speed and a little bit of white water so we can feel the rush.  If you are new to this sport I would say to wait a little before you try it in rougher waters. First get the hang of it, then test your limits.

If water sports are right up your alley, you should also try canoeing or surfing.  My husband is a surfer and we both canoe. Last Christmas I got him a multiple sport rack for his SUV. It's perfect - it can hold any of our water sport equipment.  It works great on the days that I feel like kayaking and he would rather canoe, it works for both as well as holding his surf board.

So now that you are gearing up for the next Olympics in four years what can you do when the water gets cold. Take up cycling.  My bike rack truck accessories are always on my truck. I can still open the back door so I can access the cargo area. I rather just keep it up since we use it very often.  We like to drive into town and use the bikes to get around. There are some great bike trails which make for great sightseeing.

  • Weekend Specials: Winch Accessories

This weekend (starting today 8/3 and running through Sunday 8/5) use a special promo code for additional savings at BuyAutoTruckAccessories.com. The code is PROMO225 and it will save you $15 when you spend $225.

With this weekend’s promo in effect, now’s a great time to look at Westin Winch Accessories.  These accessories include winch trays to help mount the winches, bull bars to mount lights, and faceplates to give the winch tray a little extra style. The Westin Max Winch Trays provide a secure platform for mounting a Westin T-Max winch, or many other winches with rated line pulls of up to 12,000 lbs. These winch trays are made of e-coated mild steel with a black powdercoat finish to resist rust and corrosion. They mount directly to your vehicle’s frame and require no drilling to install. They feature the Westin logo and have pre-drilled holes for easy mounting of optional accessories.

One of these optional accessories is the Winch Mount Bull Bar. With a winch mounted to the front of your truck, you’re not able to fit a regular bull bar. However, this bull bar bolts directly to Westin’s winch tray, protecting your bumper and giving you a place to mount off-road or other lights. The bull bar is made of 3-inch diameter steel for a hefty look. It can hold up to four lights, depending on size and shape. It is available in polished stainless steel or black powdercoated mild steel to match the winch tray.

This last accessory isn’t a necessity, but Westin Max Winch Tray Faceplates add the perfect finishing touch. They mount directly to the winch tray for a more finished and polished look. They are made of stainless steel with a polished finish that will bring out the shininess of your winch. They have a Westin logo so people will know you buy quality, and they have a limited lifetime warranty.
